Integrated electronics for functional surfaces

Integrated electronics for functional surfaces
Summary
In order to reduce cost by 30% of the final components encompassing materials, cabling and assembly costs, flexible electronics solutions are required. However the final systems obtained will not only be cost-efficient and robust but will get additional functionalities such as complex 3D circuitries integrated lighting, embedded user-interfaces and switches, as well. The flexibility in deposition and in applications opens up new manufacturing scenarios in automotive market, such as in door panels, overhead lamp, console in central dashboard, seats, glove box illumination, steering wheel commands, roof electronics but not only. In fact the achieved materials and processes will be suitable for several market sectors such as portable electronics, building, garments and clothes, toys, healthy, building, nautical, military and aeronautic. QUANTIFICATION In order to ensure industrial application of APPOLO technologies the following preliminary specifications must be considered since the starting of research activity: • electrical conductive properties (target 0.1-0.2 Ohm/cm), Low level of current is expected (<0.5 A); • improved actuation/sensor performances on plastic surfaces; • final components attachment as standard rigid/flexible micro components (LEDs, CPUs, switches); • laser processing with lateral accuracy (<20 ?m) at a high speed (>0.5 m/s); • Testing and validation of the materials, components and processes; • High EM compatibility.
