(UNPUBLISHED) FH OOE | Expertise in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

Summary

FHOOE is one of the strongest Universities of Applied Sciences in terms of research in the German-speaking world. FHOOE targets application-oriented and innovative research in 17 thematic areas with 630 partners from business to society. More than 450 researchers focus in their research on the benefit of national and European industry. Regarding its performance, FHOOE processed in 2020 over 550 R&D projects with a total turnover of € 20,27 Mio.

FHOOE focuses on non-destructive testing (NDT) of materials and components, defect characterization of damaged structures and components, multimodal data analysis, as well as quantitative material testing. 3D X-ray computed tomography (XCT) and active thermography (IR) play a central role.

The research group on “X-ray computed tomography” (www.3dct.at) was founded in 2004 and consists of 4 professors and 16 research assistants. The core topics of this research group are found in XCT for metrology and material science as well as XCT data analysis and visualization. The group generated an output of 345 publications, 6 book chapters, 1 patent, 1 open-source software package and organizes the iCT conference on Industrial Computed Tomography with > 250 participants (www.ict-conference.com).

The research group Thermography & NDT deals with emerging technologies in NDT, which are recently in a process of development and optimization for industrial applications. Its main research topics are Active and Passive Thermography, Digital Shearography, Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy. The group output consists of 65 publications, 1 PhD and 10 master theses.
