This can be a piece of equipment or software that integrates a number of innovative technologies.   Please note the difference with an 'industial pilot or use case' where the prototype is tested in a particular context (for instance in a particular manufacturing company) or in a lab environment for the production of a component or product according to (near to industial) specifications.
