The IoT4CPS (Trustworthy IoT for CPS) project is the Austrian 3-year flagship project, which aim is to develop guidelines, methods and tools for secure IoT-based applications in the areas of Connected & Autonomous Vehicles and Industry 4.0. When connecting the digital with the real world, new challenges related to the safety and security of systems arise. This is particularly important for vehicles and in industrial production processes. To tackle these challenges new concepts are required that not only ensure security for particular components, but that increase the reliability and trustworthiness of the overall product / system.
IoT4CPS addresses safety, security, reliability and resilience of IoT-based CPS systems, which become increasingly important in IoT applications in critical environments, e.g. Smart Manufacturing and Autonomous Driving. The convergance of IoT4CPS cybersecurity applications for both sectors, is expected to result in a competitive advantage for the Austrian region with respect to the development, validation and instrumentation of trustworthy solutions, e.g. Digital twins for cybersecurity engineering and validations.
IoT4CPS has been partially funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), within the "ICT of the Future" programme, for the period between December 2017 and November 2020.
