Summary
Manufacturing information in companies is modeled in various heterogeneous forms. It is characterized by structural data which describes the plant, line, station and the assembly operations, parts and tools needed to perform them. Furthermore it refers to geometry and auxiliary information e.g. instruction documents, pictures, etc. The first is covered under the term structural data and the latter under the term geometry data in Fig. 1.
The purpose of the VISTRA component for data import, filtering and mapping is to read different structure data files, parse and interpret them to map the relevant information into a unified Semantic Core Model (SCM) in the VISTRA system architecture. The structure data typically refers to geometry data which can also be given in various formats in companies. For this end, the possibility is foreseen to trigger different geometry data converters to convert native 3D geometry data into standard X3D format – the converted 3D geometry files are the basis for the scene description in the game engine of the VISTRA Training Simulation (VTS).
Therefore a flexible architecture for the data import, filter and mapping component has been developed. Additionally, in close collaboration with the SCM and its services, a first version of the component and its sub-components has been implemented.
