Robotic machining of high precision steel components

The demonstration part chosen by Gizelis Robotics for machining trials is an hard steel and high precision component of a metal Bending Machine equipment. It needs to be machined on all sides with an high accuracy. As regarding economic evaluation: robot machining cycle time was higher than CNC reference mainly due to the limitation in tool size; nevertheless, considering the lower equipment price, the robot process cost was estimated cheaper than the CNC reference. Further improvement on process costs could be obtained overcoming the limitation in tool size.
