EDM machining time estimator and surface quality monitoring

Motivation/need, application area Aerospace industries and mould manufacturers require perfect surfaces with no defects. Furthermore, as machining times are very long they need to estimate costs in order to optimize shop-floor efficiency and need to fulfill traceability requirements. Solution concept A smart module will be industrialised that will deliver the resulting machining time and monitor surface quality for a given specified part. The module will be able to identify in the 3-D part representation abnormal symptoms that could affect part quality following the tracking of process signals with respect to customer references and requirements.
