IMAGINE Dynamic Manufacturing Network Platform

Summary
The methodology and architecture have been materialized in an innovative software platform for dynamic, responsive manufacturing that encompasses globally distributed partners, suppliers & production facilities (SMEs and/or OEMs) that jointly conduct multi-party DMN manufacturing. Namely the IMAGINE Platform, also referred as the i_Platform. The IMAGINE Platform enables an innovative plug and produce approach that implements the IMAGINE DMN end-to-end management methodology. The different components of the integrated platform can be regarded as individual results. Detailed information about the design of each component can be found in the relevant design deliverables available on the page linked below: Production Requirement Composer: This component allows the creation of Production Requirement Blueprints for the Analysis and Configuration Phase of the DMN Management Methodology. It is implemented as a Portlet component that can be deployed in the IMAGINE Portal. It offers multi user support, detailed history log and controllable logging that allow the tracing of the actions performed by the Productions Requirement Composer. Partner Search Component: This component supports the Long Listing and Short Listing of potential Suppliers, for the Analysis and Configuration Phase of the DMN Management Methodology. It is implemented as a Portlet component that can be deployed in the IMAGINE Portal. The component provides functionalities such as static and dynamic search, user specific product and requirement listing as well as a quick match option DMN Evaluation and Final Selection Component: This component is able to create and evaluate potential DMNs allowing the user to select one based by applying several criteria and taking into account different scenarios. It is also able to create the IMAGINE Product Blueprint and submit it to the IMAGINE Blueprint Repository. This component supports the Analysis and Configuration Phase of the DMN Management Methodology. It has been implemented as a Portlet component which can be deployed in IMAGINE Portal. It provides multi user support, detailed history log of all the Configurations that have been submitted to the DMN Evaluation and final selection and controllable sl4j logging that allows the tracing of the actions performed by the DMN Evaluation and Final Selection Component. DMN Design Toolset: This component supports the design phase of the DMN Management Methodology. Using this component a user is able prepare the Production Repository for DMN execution and guides the user into creating a complete End-To-End Blueprint that is submitted in the IMAGINE Blueprint Repository. The component has been implemented as a Portlet that can be deployed in IMAGINE Portal, it provides Multi user support, detailed history log of all the End-To-End blueprints and controllable sl4j logging that allows the tracing of the actions performed by the DMN Design Toolset. KPI Log And Monitoring: This component supports the Management, Execution and Monitoring phase of the DMN Management Methodology. Using this component the real-time monitoring of a DMN Process is made possible. The component monitors KPIs in process and DMN level and compares them against a set of thresholds. The component is implemented using the Nagios Server. DMN Quality Assurance Design Tool: This component allows a user to edit and create the Quality Assurance Blueprint using a dedicated interface. This component is implemented as a Portlet component which is bundled with the DMN Design Toolset. DMN Orchestration Design Tool: Using this component a user is able to edit and create the orchestration parts of the End-To-End Blueprint, which is submitted to the IMAGINE Blueprint Repository. This component is implemented as a Portlet component that is bundled with the DMN Design Toolset and can orchestrate any DMN. IMAGINE Portal: IMAGINE Portal is a portal that has been developed using the Liferay Portal technology framework allowing for single user authentication, deployment of custom components, professional look and feel and administration. It offers multi-user support; controllable sl4j logging that allows the tracing of the actions performed has been configured. The IMAGINE Portal also contains a set of extendable custom fields for users and organisations. The IMAGINE portal is used to host other components of the IMAGINE Platform but can be also used to host other, customized or domain specific applications that need to integrate with IMAGINE Platform. IMAGINE Blueprint Repository: This is a core component of the IMAGINE Platform. It is used throughout all phases and it is the main storage of IMAGINE Blueprint models. It is able to store, import, export RDF and IMAGINE Blueprint models as well as execute SPARQL Update and SPARQL read queries in standardized formats. It provides multi user support, backup and restore functionality, cached queries support for increased performance and recursive and not recursive synthesis of a Blueprint Imagine Instance in RDF given the IMAGINE ID. IMAGINE Production Repository: This is a core component of the IMAGINE Platform. It serves as the main repository of execution time information such as KPIs and processes’ status. IMAGINE Dashboard: This component is mainly used in the Execution, Management and Monitoring Phase of the IMAGINE DMN Management Methodology. It provides a multi-user dashboard implementation based on SAG MashZone Server that displays dynamic information for DMN execution time, such as the status of every process in a DMN and the values of the KPIs as well as re-configuration/termination management options for running DMNs. IMAGINE Integration Server: The IMAGINE Integration Server is a core component for the Integration with IMAGINE Platform that provides integration, process management, scheduling and status indication functionality. This component has been developed based on the SAG ARIS Integration Platform. Complex Event Detector: This component is an event processing engine that provides support for dynamic management (deployment/evaluation/contextualization) of the event patterns that can be used to detect situations of interest during the execution of a DMN. This component has been developed as a Storm System that utilizes ESPER for event processing. Editor for modelling and management of the situations of interest: This component is an android application that is capable to model and manage the situations of interest that are executed against the complex event detector. This android application is part of the Extended IMAGINE Platform and can be used to monitor the activity during all phases of the IMAGINE DMN Management Methodology. Exception and trend detection: This component adds trend detection and anomaly detection functionalities to the complex event detector component. The aforementioned functionalities use the ESPER event processing engine and a scalable machine learning and data mining framework to identify and forecast potential situation of interest.
