Summary
For the production of medical drugs, products such as proteins, nucleic acids, living microorganisms like virus and bacteria are used. CFD is a simulation-approach that can be successfully used for characterization of pharmaceutical processes by evaluating system parameters and their impact on the biopharmaceutical quality. The main challenge is the treatment of multiphase systems and long process time of several hours. In order to apply CFD in the development process a highly optimized work flow and huge computational resources are required. The aim of the presented project is to adapt the virtual process for cloud-based multiphase simulations of a bioreactor.
