The Integrated optical sensor for highly accurate geometrical profile measurement is a dedicated optical system (2D camera + telecentric optics) developed by Video Systems, able to control dimensional profile of a machined part with quite challenging accuracy (down to a few um) within a field of view of about 25 by 20 mm: in this sense, it can compete for certain applications with more expansive and time demanding CMM systems, by measuring one part’s profile in less than a second instead of several tens of seconds, which can be advantageous in particular when the control of more parts per minute is requested.
