Machine Tool Component 2: 5F Magnetically Levitated High Speed Milling Head

This electrospindle is based on magnetic leviation using two radial and one axial magnetic bearing. The new device will be able to provide 5 new functions to an ordinary milling machine: Monitoring function, Dynamic Calibration function, Stability Prediction function, Damping function and Advanced Control Loop function. It is remarkable the result obtained with the active damping function, where the chip-flow can be increased more than 5 times. Without active damping, the active magnetic bearings spindle head has a very small damping and this way, it would not be valid for cutting due to chatter vibration problems in many cases. By means of the active damping function, the damping is increased and the productivity can be increased clearly.
