Assembly line: monitoring and control system

Summary

Two industrial partners are involved in this use-case: MASS producing equipment for process automation and CONT producing components for car industry and using MASS equipment within the assembly line. The goal of the use-case is to reduce the quality incidents, equipment breakdown time, time for automatic change (switching the line from producing one product to another) and to increase line productivity based on fast reaction and preventive actions using the ZDMP platform. The ZDMP platform has the driver providing the interface between the equipment and the server side and provides a set of services, namely: (i) product version control and changeover, (ii) automatic call for maintenance, (iii) power management, (iv) cycle time monitoring, (v) automatic material ordering, (vi) data archive control and (vii) visual management and reporting.

Comment:

Usually the assembling of electronic components within the CONT is performed using 6-11 working stations. AS the workstations can be from different manufacturers and have no direct connection, the goal of ZDMP platform is to provide a needed middleware and services for centralized assembly line control by acquiring data from different workstations.

Comment:

The assembly process is mostly automated. However, some manufacturing stages, as well as some quality operations are performed manually. In this regard, the production process can be improved when quality and performance details can be delivered in time and to the right person.

The ZDMP platform targets more the assembly line layer, than separate workstations. The idea is to aggregate the information coming from the workstations along the assembly line and provide the quality control and performance services.

In this use-case ZDMP platform provides a middleware between the workstations and the database keeping the production process details. Moreover, it provides a set of services for the production process improvement.

In this use-case, besides the services providing performance check and quality control, ZDMP platform also enables communication of the workstations and the database keeping the relevant data.
