Summary
The dynamic compliance of a machine tool is an important characteristic for estimating the
performance in a process of machining. The dynamic compliances can be illustrated in Frequency Response Functions (FRF). These FRFs are also needed for virtual representations of machine tools. They are input parameter for the simulation and calculation of cutting processes, especially process stability calculations.
Conventional measurements of the dynamic behaviour of machine tools are done by experts and require several manual operations. They are time-consuming, especially when the measurements have to be made in different directions and positions of the working room. The automated dynamics calibrator is designed to overcome these issues. It allows a quick measurement with a minimum of user input.
