Summary
- Motivation / Need: Disturbances on manufacturing shop-floors and the increasing number of product variants necessitate adaptive and flexible process planning methods. Toward that end, the “Machine Availability Monitoring” service-oriented Cloud-based software framework, at first, gathers data from shop-floor machine tools through sensors, input from operators, and machine schedules. Afterwards, an information fusion technique processes the monitoring data in order to feed the process planning service with the status, specifications, and availability time windows of machine tools.
- Application Area: Applicable to machining shop-floors
- Solution Concept: The Machine Availability Monitoring module provides real-time status monitoring, machine available windows through an integration with a planning system and finally a database for shop-floor information including machine tools, and cutting tools specifications
