Summary
The expermient has been carried on by SWARM. Purpose of the experiment was to shorten the engineering cycle and investigate a large panel of product option and to bring services to SMEs for new products and processes design, exploring a variety of AI techniques that can be used in the context of multi-platform to improve the design process and the interaction between various industrial skills. SWARM platform aimed at enabling building blocks to digitalize the life cycle, project management, collaborative conception and additive manufacturing prototyping. AI has been used to have continuous improvement of the issues identified during the project lifecycle process, with a special focus on plastic smart products (typically IoT). The challenge was how to merge all the available information: engineering information, project management information, different deliverables, technical data, machine and production data. Data lakes and data analysis will be key topics in this concern.
The first objective was to create a unique and consistent source of data across the entire product lifecycle form the idea to production, including customer feedback, training and after-sale service. Based on this data and with a strong collaborative experience, AI technology was used to explore the gathered data and to build new experiences, suggestions and continuous improvement of the workflow. Better life cycle and project management for plastronic product and automatic generation of the control process on the basis of specifications and other project documents.
The experiment has been conducted internally in SWARM, between the creative lab (product ideation), the design & engineering office and the production lab (POC, prototyping, 3D Printing).
